Personal injury specialists Minster Law instructed us to refurbish their new office in Wakefield. Keeping business interruption to a minimum was crucial and getting the refurbishment of a new building right from the start was integral to that.
As highly experienced Principal Designers, we took the lead in planning, managing, monitoring and co-ordinating health and safety during the pre-construction phase of the refurbishment project. We also advised on contract selection and acted as Contract Administrators throughout the project.
Our role involved ensuring the legal contracts included appropriate clauses, that HSE was notified at the right time, and that all the contractors were entirely in the loop.
The project was complex, and we attended meetings, site inspections and made regular monitoring visits. Furthermore, we were responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of Health and Safety (including design implications) before the building contract was signed, so the project started on the right foot.
